Publication, Magazine Of The Hijab In the Netherlands

Publication, Magazine Of The Hijab In the Netherlands,

Muslim community in the Netherlands apparently large enough, even many Muslim women in this country who wear hijab. But unlike that seems the general public, voluntary use of hijab. Nine out of 10 Muslim women in Holland decide for themselves whether they want to hijab or not. This survey results are announced simultaneously with the launch of a glossy magazine titled Hoofdboek (Head Book).

In the magazine, Boutaine Azzabi, Dutch journalist blooded Morocco, featuring a collection of her hijab, amounting to 100 pieces. Scarf is very varied, from traditional, to the fashionable and colorful. Azzabi also explained the story behind her scarf collection.

Lured hijab
Who says women just addicted to handbags or shoes? Enchantment of the hijab also make a woman can collect in the number of tens, then hundreds. Jan Knaap, the originator of this Book Head magazine, reveals, "I once had a bloody nanny Moroccan who wear headscarves, and I noticed he did have a different hijab. I wonder, how many hijabs that he has."

Apparently, this nanny have 50. When Knaap fun asking the same thing on the women who worked at the supermarket, the answer varies. Some of them even claim to have more than 100 headscarf. "They've got the hijab more than the average Dutch people imagine, and it made me think. My friends and acquaintances I think Muslim women have only four or five hijab, or at most one for each day was," he said.

Because of that, he says there is a biased picture of the hijab. Headscarf is seen as a symbol of oppression. Head Book Knaap hope this project can change that view.

Still a debate
The hijab is still invite debate in the Netherlands. Can a woman rejected for a job because she wore a headscarf? Whether girls should wear headscarves in school? Anti-Islam party PVV even want to impose taxes on people who hijabed.

Six out of 10 Muslim women aged 15-25 years in the Netherlands wear the hijab. Most of them consciously decided to wear hijab or not the average age of 19 years. This decision is not much influenced by parents, especially mothers. Only half of Muslim family whose daughter will follow the mother's decision to wear the hijab. Although their mother wearing a hijab, girls can choose to wear hijab or not.

To be sure, many Muslim women are very enthusiastic about the magazine on this hijab. Moreover, although initially a marker of identity or one's faith, the hijab or headscarf eventually also become a fashion accessory. The price can be very expensive, depending on who the manufacturer. Fashion houses Chanel and Gucci, for example, has been marketing the hijab and hijab for their upscale collection.
