Hijab Uncovered & Explained

Hijab Uncovered & Explained

Hijab has been greatly argued, and has become one of the most debated issues in the west and around the world. It has for a number of reasons such as the veil becomes a symbol of oppression in Muslim societies that tend to be very patriarchal, preventing women from having any role in society and used as political symbols. These are just some of the reasons among many that have earned extremely negative view of the veil in the media. As a repercussion wear the hijab has been banned in some countries such as Turkey, France and Tunisia.

Despite the negative perceptions and stereotypes surrounding the hijab in the west and the other world there has been a huge wave of Muslim women who wear hijab. There has been a significant increase in non-Muslim women convert to Islam and wearing the hijab who has studied Islam with objectivity despite the negative hype surrounding the hijab. Many Muslim woman and convert to Islam has come to love the veil and feel very proud to adhere to the concept of hijab. The women were asked about the attitude that men have toward them after they started wearing the hijab and the response is that it has a positive impact and men treat them better with respect and dignity.

What is the hijab? To try to answer this question I will still be very brief and be as concise as possible. Headscarf as a piece of fabric comes from the Arabic word for "covering / hiding". The common use of the veil is to "head covering" which hides all but the face of women according to the verses of the holy Al-Quran 24:31. Rather than being a symbol of oppression that freed women from the sexual objectification of the status of respect and honor in society. In the advent of Islam women were ordered to observe veil but have not given the right to ownership, entrepreneurship and allowed to take positions on political institutions.

The condition specified by the headscarf is that it should be used in simple colors that are not considered as tabarruj namely blinding and display of beauty. This can differ from place to place, region to region and culture to culture such as in Saudi Arabia is considered a brightly colored scarf featuring the beauty, but in some countries in Africa and parts of Asia hijab is considered part of the cultural norm to wear bright colors. This has paved the way for Muslim women to experiment with veils in different colors and designs in this respect the rules and regulations set by Islam.

This has led to creative style of veil is being designed by specialist designers who not only see the bright colors plain veil but introduces hijab design a variety of different occasions with casual wear, smart and special. Some outlets have introduced a variety of seasonal veil themselves for spring, summer and winter to coordinate the right style, color and design according to mood. Hijab has shown more than just a piece of cloth boring and repressive prevent women from taking part in society.

In fact, the hijab frees women from sexual exploitation and to respect themselves dignified position. With it, maintaining an appropriate form of Islamic rule established and able to adjust to the soft with the appropriate norms of different areas.
