Between Hijab and Veil
Indeed, in everyday conversation people generally assume the same with the veil Hijab. This assumption is not appropriate. Hijab is not the same with the veil. Hijab is to dress the lower part (al-al-libas aDNA) in the form of robes, the clothes are baggy overalls worn over clothing style (such as house dress). Being a fashion scarf top (al-A'la al-libas) is a head covering. (Rawwas Qal'ah Jie, Mu'jam Lughah fuqaha Al-`, it. 124 & 151; Anis Ibrahim et al, Al-Al-Wasith Mu'jam, 2 / 279 & 529).
Hijab and the veil is an obligation upon Muslim women are shown by the two Quranic verses differently. Hijab obligation essentially surah Al-Ahzab verse 59, the veil is an obligation (khimar) is essentially a surah An-Nur verse 31.
About the Hijab, Allah says (meaning), "O Prophet! Tell your wives, daughters and wives of people believers, 'Let them stretched her hijab Hijab-to all their flesh." (Surat al-Ahzab : 59). In this verse there is a word jalabib which is the plural (plural) of the word Hijab. Indeed the mufassir Hijab disagree about the meaning of this. Imam Syaukani in Fathul Qadir (6 / 79), for example, describes some of the interpretations of the Hijab. Imam believes Hijab is Syaukani own clothes bigger than a veil, by quoting the opinion of the author of Al-Jauhari Ash-Shihaah dictionary, that the Hijab is a long shirt and loose (milhafah). Some say Hijab is a kind of veil (al-qinaa '), or clothes that cover the entire body of women (ats-tsaub alladzi yasturu jami'a bodies al-mar `ah). According to Imam Qurtubi in Tafseer al-Qurtubi (14/243), from a variety of opinion, that is valid is the latest opinion, the Hijab is a shirt that covers the entire female body.
As a result, Hijab is not a veil, but a long shirt and loose (milhafah) or protective clothing (originally `ah) which is used to cover the entire body over the clothes home. Hijab must be outstretched to bottom (not a piece of clothing), because only in this way can be practiced the word of God (meaning) "stretched-Hijab hijab around their bodies." With a piece of clothing, Hijab means to cover only part of the body, not the entire body. (Taqiyuddin An-Nabhani, An-Nizam al-Islam fil ijtimai, p.. 45-46).
Hijab is an obligatory dress worn in public life, such as street or market. As for the special life, as in the home, Hijab is not mandatory. What is a woman obliged to cover her nakedness, the whole body except face and palms of hands, except to their husbands or their mahram (see Surah An-Nur: 31).
While the veil, the Arabic language is khimar, Allah says (meaning), "... And let them put her veil cloth to her chest ..." (Surat An-Nur: 31). In this verse, there is a word khumur, which is the plural (plural) of khimaar. Meaning khimaar is a veil, that is nothing that can cover the head (maa yughaththa bihi `su ar-ra). (Tafsir At-Tabari, 19/159; Ibn Kathir, 6 / 46; Ibn 'Arabi, Ahkamul Qur `an, 6 / 65).
In conclusion, the Hijab is not the veil, but the dress robes for women who must wear in public life. Therefore, the assumption that the Hijab is the same as the headscarf should be straightened out misconceptions. And Allaah knows best.
