I Don't Remember How I Outside Without Hijab
One day experiences wearing hijab has brought a 21-year-old British girl to read about Islam and so embrace Islam. Jessica Rhodes tells Muslims Mirror, "I took part in the first World Hijab Day and challenge myself to wear hijab for a month."
"I then started to read the Koran and the words of the Quran seems logical and transparent, not as gospel that looks just talk."
Rhodes came from Norwich, is one of the non-Muslim participants from all over the world who wear the hijab as part of the annual World Hijab Day on February 1. The event intends to clear misconceptions about the hijab, the dress code should be, which kononnya symbol of oppression of women in Islam and above.
After wearing the hijab, Rhodes said that he never remembers what it was like out without hijab. Having experienced it, Rhodes began to read more to Islam to recognize more about Islam.
"I also do research on Islam as a whole and feel that Islammerupakan inclusive religion that can provide answers to the questions that I was looking for," he said.
Having decided to embrace Islam, Rhodes got a variety of reactions to the decision. "All the reactions that constitute a bag filled with all sorts of stuff," he said.
"Both my parents were not happy but they accepted my decision. While my husband's family so give support," said Rhodes.
"Unfortunately, my friends have all kinds of reactions, mostly happy with my decision, which I regard others denied this, and some others also left me at all."
Petty-minded
Rhodes said that many Muslims fail to help those who are new to Islam to know Islam better.
"I have a lot of support, but it seems many do not help me," complained Rhodes. "Often I am asking for help."
He said that many narrow-minded Muslims about the differences in interpretation of the Quran. "When I asked, people will reap the verses of the Quran to me and does not seem open to new Muslims," said Rhodes.
"They could improve by being more minded to other interpretations, because not only Western people that can I narrow minded, misunderstood, and so on."
Rhodes also complained about the reaction of some Muslims that they can sometimes cause him to think again about his Islamic faith. "Sometimes I think the reaction would not have been part of the Muslim cause I feel good when I leave Islam and return the original to paganism. Due to the religion I was given a choice about how I should practice my religion, but it seems no one cares if I do the same There is no way this or that way, "he said.
"For Muslims ... Everything is in God's hands. If the people of the world, from a wide variety of life, more open-minded, maybe we can move forward," said Rhodes. "If not, we will be continues in the mud misunderstanding, anger and war are not meaningful." (IRIB / Islamstory.com)
